Lusail SC unveil strategic partnerships for new season

Doha, Qatar: Lusail Sports Club has announced a series of strategic partnership agreements with leading companies and institutions for the 2026-27 sports season, at a ceremony held at The Torch Doha, yesterday.

The partnerships involve Qatari Diar, Aspire Zone Foundation, Doha International School, GWC, Fitogether and Fusion Group Holding, with each organisation taking a specific role in supporting the club’s long-term development.

Earlier this year, Lusail SC had launched a new five-year strategy aimed at developing sporting talent and strengthening institutional growth, following the football team’s historic promotion to the country’s top division - Qatar Stars League (QSL) - for the 2026-27 season. esporist.org

Lusail SC chairman Nawaf Al Mudhahka had described the club’s football team’s promotion as a major milestone in the club’s long-term development strategy.

The club yesterday said the partnership agreements align with the Lusail SC's strategy to build a comprehensive and sustainable institutional sports system and strengthen partnerships with various sectors supporting sports and youth.

This step is in line with the vision and directives of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Football Association, and the Qatar Stars League (QSL). It contributes to developing the sports system, enhancing governance and sustainability, expanding the fan base and participation, supporting talent and future generations, and contributing to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, it stated.Lusail Sports Club Chairman Nawaf Mohammed Al-Mudahka with officials representing Aspire Zone Foundation Subsidiaries.

Qatari Diar has joined as a strategic partner, with the partnership strengthened by the shared connection between the company and Lusail Sports Club to Lusail City. The collaboration is expected to support the club’s growth and strengthen its role as a sporting institution reflecting the identity and ambitions of the city.

Aspire Zone Foundation Subsidiaries have also become strategic partners. The collaboration will allow Lusail Sports Club to benefit from Aspire’s expertise in sports, services and operations, while enhancing the club’s professional and institutional capabilities.

Doha International School joined as the club’s academic partner, supporting its efforts to link education and sport.

GWC has been named the club’s logistics partner. Its expertise in logistics services and solutions will support the club’s operational requirements and the management of sporting activities and events.

Fitogether will serve as the technology partner, supporting the club’s use of data and technology in player development. Its solutions will help technical staff monitor and analyse player performance, improve training programmes and support decision-making.

Fusion Group Holding has joined as the talent and youth development partner, supporting the club’s academy and junior programmes. The partnership will focus on identifying and developing young talent and creating a pathway for promising players to progress to higher levels.

Al Mudahka affirmed that these agreements represent part of a broader club strategy based on building long-term partnerships with institutions and companies that share the club’s vision and ambition. He added that Lusail Club seeks to build a modern model for a sports club, one that is competitive on the field and institutionally strong in its operations.

Lusail SC will begin their QSL campaign with the opening clash against Al Rayyan at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Thursday at 7.30pm.

واعتبر يوسف أحمد كانو أمين السر العام بالاتحاد القطري للكرة الطائرة والمدير التنفيذي للبطولة، خلال مؤتمر صحفي عقدته اللجنة المنظمة بمقر اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية، أن استضافة الدوحة لبطولة العالم للكرة الطائرة تحت 17 عاما بمثابة حدث تاريخي للكرة الطائرة القطرية، مؤكدا امتلاك قطر المنشآت والخبرات التنظيمية اللازمة لإنجاح الحدث وإخراجه بالصورة التي تليق بمكانته، ومتوجها بالشكر إلى جميع الجهات الداعمة والراعية، وفي مقدمتها اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية.

وأشار إلى إقامة مباريات البطولة على صالتي السيدات بأسباير زون والنادي العربي الرياضي، لافتا إلى أن النسخة الأولى أقيمت في بلغاريا عام 2024، وتوج المنتخب الإيطالي بلقبها، فيما تقام البطولة كل عامين.
وأبرز أن البطولة تشكل فرصة مهمة للتعريف بالمواهب الواعدة وتسليط الضوء على مستقبل اللعبة عالميا، مؤكدا جاهزية المنتخب القطري لخوض منافسات البطولة بعد برنامج إعداد متكامل تضمن معسكرات تدريبية داخل الدوحة وخارجها.

ودعا يوسف كانو الجماهير القطرية إلى الحضور ومساندة المنتخب خلال مبارياته، مؤكدا أن الدعم الجماهيري يمثل عاملا مهما لمنح اللاعبين الثقة والدافع خلال المنافسات.

من جانبه، أكد سعيد سالم النعيمي أمين السر المساعد بالاتحاد القطري للكرة الطائرة والمدير الإعلامي للبطولة، أن اللجنة المنظمة استكملت كافة الترتيبات التنظيمية والإعلامية الخاصة بالبطولة، مشيرا إلى تخصيص مركز إعلامي في صالة السيدات بأسباير زون لخدمة وسائل الإعلام وتسهيل مهامها خلال المنافسات.

ونوه إلى أن العمل شمل تجهيز جميع المرافق وفق متطلبات البطولة، بما يضمن توفير أفضل الظروف للمنتخبات المشاركة والأجهزة الفنية والإدارية، ويسهم في خروج المنافسات بالصورة المنشودة.

من جهته، أعرب محمد سالم الكواري عضو مجلس إدارة الاتحاد القطري للكرة الطائرة ومدير المنافسات، عن ثقته في قدرة قطر على تنظيم نسخة مميزة، مشيرا إلى أن الاتحاد الدولي للكرة الطائرة أبدى إعجابه بالمنشآت والصالات التي تحتضن المنافسات.

ولفت إلى أن استضافة قطر لهذه البطولة تمثل محطة مهمة ضمن التحضيرات للاستحقاق الأكبر، بطولة العالم للرجال عام 2029، التي ستستضيفها قطر للمرة الأولى، مؤكدا أهمية الاستفادة من الخبرات التنظيمية المكتسبة خلال البطولة الحالية.

بدوره أكد شريف الشمرلي المشرف العام على المنتخبات الوطنية للرجال، أن المنتخب القطري تحت 17 عاما خضع لبرنامج إعداد متكامل على مدار نحو سبعة أشهر تضمن معسكرات تدريبية وقرابة 25 مباراة ودية دولية في الدوحة والقاهرة وسلوفينيا؛ بهدف رفع المستوى الفني للاعبين ومنحهم أكبر قدر من الخبرة والاحتكاك قبل خوض المنافسات العالمية.

وسيستهل المنتخب القطري للكرة الطائرة تحت 17 عاما مشواره في البطولة بمواجهة نظيره الفنزويلي غدا (الأربعاء) ضمن منافسات المجموعة الأولى، ثم سيلتقي نظيره الفرنسي يوم الجمعة 21 أغسطس، قبل اختتام مبارياته في دور المجموعات بمواجهة شقيقه التونسي يوم الأحد 23 أغسطس، علما أنه سيخوض جميع مبارياته على صالة السيدات بأسباير زون.

Paris, France: Formula One constructor Williams announced Tuesday it was extending the contract of driver Alex Albon for next season.

The 30-year-old Thai finished eighth in the drivers' standings last year, securing Williams' best result since 2016.

Albon joined the British team four years ago and will now stay with them to the end of 2027.

"Alex is one of the best drivers on the grid and knows better than anyone the enormous improvements we have made in recent years," Williams' team principal James Vowles said in a statement.

"Re-signing him shows the belief we both have in the direction we are heading."

The deal comes in the wake of Albon bringing up a century of race starts for Williams.

In interviews with AFP in February, Vowles stated it was "not realistic" for Williams to win the world championship this season or next, before Albon said Williams had started the 2026 campaign "on the back foot compared to our rivals".

However, in a statement released by Williams on Tuesday, Albon said: "One tough year doesn't tell the full picture, and it only gives me more motivation to keep building and pushing together with the factory and our fans to achieve great things.

"Our story is not over yet, so my full focus now is on doing whatever it takes to get us back up the grid."

أعلن نادي يوفنتوس الإيطالي تعاقده مع الحارس الدولي الإيطالي غولييلمو فيكاريو قادما من توتنهام الإنجليزي، على سبيل الإعارة لمدة موسم واحد.

Been looking at investing in one of these saddles for a while. I have struggled to find a comfortable saddle that I can use without getting a sore posterior. I have been through a few without finding what I was looking for. Even trying personally scanned 3D Printed saddle without huge success. So, I decided to pull the plug on the Wove V8 Saddle from Sported.ae with the twin outback bottle holder. (You can mount just one bottle straight onto the back of the saddle).

The first thing that strikes you is how light the saddle is, I know it’s not our first consideration in triathlon. But it is impressive. The saddle needed adjusting slightly differently to my old saddle. But as soon as I took it out for its first ride, I could feel the comfort, it is as comfortable sat further back on an easy ride or sat on the nose really pushing the power.

In its first month of use it has done about 800kms including a 70.3 and I am really impressed.
