Blue Jays' Santander Out 5-6 Months with Labrum Surgery

Toronto Blue Jays slugger Anthony Santander will miss 5-6 months after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, an injury that returned in January when he resumed hitting.

Santander revealed Wednesday that shoulder pain returned in January when he started hitting again after taking time off to rest, per Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. An MRI then confirmed the torn labrum, which was made public on the first day of spring training.

The 31-year-old missed most of last season rehabbing the same shoulder, appearing in just 54 regular-season games and five more in the post-season. He is entering the second year of a five-year, $92.5-million contract with the Blue Jays.
