The Football Association has joined Uefa in condemning Fifa’s plan to sell off stakes in the World Cup to private investors.
In a statement released on Wednesday morning the FA said they have yet to see any details of the controversial proposals, and expressed grave concerns over Fifa’a governance.

Today’s tittle-tattle is walking on sunshine
After waving Robert Lewandowski off into the sunset at the end of last season, Barcelona are in need of a new striker. The only one on their books scored the winner in the World Cup final. Julián Alvarez is at the centre of a Spanish tug of war this summer – he wants to leave Atlético Madrid and is wanted by Barcelona and Real Madrid, who had a £129m bid roundly rejected in June. With Atlético suits so far refusing to sit down with Joan Laporta for talks in a fashionable Catalan restaurant, the Barça president is beginning to look elsewhere.
Naturally, Laporta’s attention has turned to Bournemouth. Eli Junior Kroupi had an outstanding first season in English football and is said to be the basis of Barcelona’s Plan B up front. Bournemouth insist the 20-year-old is not for sale and, according to reports, value the striker at £110m anyway – about the going rate for a good young player in the Premier League. Other European heavyweights such as Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and, er, Tottenham are circling. Chelsea’s João Pedro is said to be an unrealistic Plan C for Barça. Maybe Plan D was Danny Welbeck.
Continue reading...Mickey Loomis: Hopeful about Chris Olave contract extension, but not there yet
Wide receiver Chris Olave's contract was a topic of conversation at Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis's press conference on Tuesday.
Olave is in the final year of his rookie deal after posting career highs across the board during the 2025 season and Loomis said that the team is working to sign him to an extension in the near future.
"We're having a lot of discussions," Loomis said. "You have meetings and we're just not there yet. We're hopeful. . . . We want to get it done. Chris and his agents, I know they want to get it done. But it’s got to be right for both parties."
Olave was limited this offseason after missing the final game of last season with a blood clot in his lung. He's also dealt with multiple concussions and Loomis called his injury history "an element" to the conversations about his next contract, but he's ready for a full workload this summer and the health issues haven't dimmed the Saints' desire to keep Olave in their offense.
