Eagles Trade Brown for 2028 First-Round Pick

The Eagles traded receiver A.J. Brown to the Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick, with GM Howie Roseman explaining the rationale behind accepting a future selection.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman defended the trade, stating that "a pick is a pick" regardless of the year. "A first-round pick is a first-round pick. Doesn't matter. Teams are still going to be playing football in 2028," Roseman explained.

While the Eagles reportedly preferred a 2027 first-round pick, they accepted the 2028 selection considering cap consequences. If the Patriots struggle in 2027, the Eagles could receive a higher selection in 2028 than the late first-round pick they would have gotten in 2026. moryak.biz
