Bruno Fernandes has been named the Professional Footballers' Association's Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season, becoming the first Manchester United player to win the prestigious award since Wayne Rooney in 2011. The award, voted for by players themselves, puts Fernandes in elite company. He was nominated alongside Manchester City's Erling Haaland - who made history last year as the first Scandinavian to win the award - along with City's Rayan Cherki and Arsenal trio Declan Rice, Gabriel, and David Raya. On the women's side, Manchester City's Bunny Shaw claimed the award.
