Kolstad Keep Title Hopes Alive
Kolstad's victory keeps their three-year championship reign alive despite financial struggles and player departures this season. Bergen had shocked Kolstad in the first match, giving them a chance to clinch on home turf, but Kolstad pulled away after the break.
Simon Jeppsson returned from injury to score seven goals for Kolstad, who maintained their lead despite playing with fewer players at times after Magnus Gullerud received a red card. The third deciding match will now determine which team advances to the handball final. mieszalniakolorado.pl
Carlisle owner vows club will come back stronger
Carlisle United owner Tom Piatak has promised the club will not "stand still" in their efforts to get promoted out of the National League.
Carlisle missed out on the goal this season after losing 2-1 at home to Boreham Wood in the play-off semi-final on Sunday having finished third in the regular season.
"We are not here to stand still," said American Piatak in a statement on the club's website.
"The work has already started to review, improve, and make the decisions needed to move this club forward.
"Every decision will be made with one clear goal: giving Carlisle United the best possible chance to be successful and giving our supporters a team they can believe in."
- Boreham Wood beat Carlisle to reach promotion final
- Rochdale scrape past Scunthorpe to make Wembley final
After successive relegations out of League One and League Two, Mark Hughes' side achieved a club-record 95 points in finishing third.
Piatak admitted to "real disappointment" at play-off failure but he also acknowledges how much the Brunton Park club has improved in the last 12 months.
They had a crowd of 13,814 for the game with Boreham Wood, the highest attendance in the National League this season and better than all bar two games in League Two and an average home attendance of 7,338.
"This season has also laid important foundations, on the pitch, in the stands, and across the wider community," said the Florida-based businessman.
"There is a stronger connection around this football club today than there was a year ago, and that matters. Now we have to build on it with purpose."
Royals are best in MLB at shutting down one premier spot in opposing lineups

The Kansas City Royals haven't had the best season so far, but it's not been due to their pitching staff. For the most part, the Royals have gotten plenty of success from their pitching this year.
There's one spot in opposing teams' lineups that the Royals have had immense success at shutting down this season. And it's within the top-four spots of the order.
According to Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller, the Royals are the best team in Major League Baseball when it comes to shutting down cleanup hitters, which, traditionally, are some of the best power-hitters in the sport.
Royals are MLB's best at shutting down cleanup hitters
"Kansas City Royals: Shutting down cleanup hitters," Miller writes. "Royals pitching, however, has been lights out against that portion of the opponents' lineup, allowing just a .252 on-base percentage that ranks best in the majors."
The Royals have allowed just a .252 on-base percentage to cleanup hitters this season, which is a very low mark for any spot in the lineup, but especially for the cleanup spot.
One of the main reasons for the success against cleanup hitters has been the starting rotation. Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, and Kris Bubic all have shut down cleanup hitters this season, with OPS's below .450 when facing players hitting fourth for their teams.

While lineup construction has changed a bit in recent years, with the cleanup spot not being the best power-hitter like it was for some time, it's still typically reserved for a quality hitter.
Being able to shut down cleanup hitters at the best rate in MLB is a big accomplishment for this Royals pitching staff. Miller's note is a fascinating one, as the Royals are having the most success of any team against a premier spot in the lineup.
Even though things aren't going too great overall, the Royals can at least take solace in knowing they're shutting down teams' cleanup hitters better than any pitching staff in baseball.

2026 Truist Championship tee times, TV coverage, viewer's guide
After a one-year sojourn at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, the Truist Championship, along with seven of the top-ranked golfers in the world, will head back to Quail Hollow for a final test before next week’s PGA Championship. Rory McIlroy will tee it up for the first time since his second Masters victory, as will defending champ Sepp Straka.
Along with McIlroy, OWGR top-10 pros Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele and J.J. Spaun will trek to North Carolina for the signature event. McIlroy has won at Quail Hollow four times in his career, most recently in 2024 by five strokes over Xander Schauffele. That was Schauffele’s second runner-up at the Truist in back-to-back years.

Last year’s champ, Straka, won by two shots over Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas. It was Straka’s second win of the calendar year and featured an opening-round 63.
