McCarthy urges Mourinho to apologize over Vinicius comments

Benni McCarthy has urged Jose Mourinho to apologize for his 'very wrong' comments regarding Vinicius Jr., following the Real Madrid winger's allegation of racial abuse during a Champions League tie against Benfica.

The Brazil forward scored the only goal in Real Madrid's 1-0 win, but was booked for his celebration. Mourinho called the celebration disrespectful and cited Eusebio, while Uefa investigates claims of racism from Gianluca Prestianni.

Mccarthy, who won the Champions League with Mourinho at Porto, admitted the Portuguese coach 'made a mistake' but emphasized he is a stand-up man. Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has called for a zero-tolerance policy if racism is proven.
