Mexico’s FMF Issues Ultimatum to Liga MX Players

The Mexican Football Federation has warned Liga MX players that they will be excluded from the 2026 World Cup squad if they fail to attend a mandatory training camp in Mexico City on 6‑7 May, even though the camp clashes with league playoffs and continental matches.

The FMF’s ultimatum comes as coach Javier Aguirre prepares a pre‑World Cup squad, with 12 of 20 selected Liga MX players already guaranteed spots. Players must report to the High‑Performance Centre by 8 pm local time on 7 May or face exclusion. The camp coincides with Liga MX playoffs and Concacaf Champions Cup games, sparking disputes with clubs such as Toluca and Chivas over player release.
