MLBPA Vows to Fight Salary Cap Proposal

MLBPA interim director Bruce Meyer vows the union will fight management's salary cap proposal, stating the union has never been broken and will continue resisting despite potential lockout.

Meyer made the declaration during an online Q&A session as MLB proposes a $245.3 million spending cap for 2027, with a $171.2 million floor. The Dodgers' $415.2 million payroll this year would exceed the proposed cap by about $170 million.

Baseball has seen nine work stoppages since 1972, with regular-season games last lost in the 1994-95 strike. The union has proposed expanded free agency and increased minimum salary while MLB insists the cap would level the playing field and share revenue 50/50 with players. sweetbonanza.qpon
