NFL analysts pick landing spots for Jaguars free agent Travis Etienne
What teams could be potential landing spots for Jacksonville Jaguars' free agent running back Travis Etienne?
Several NFL analysts have weighed in.
Etienne had a bounce-back season in 2025, rushing for over 1,000 yards -- even if the blocking in front of him wasn't always clean -- and contributing in the passing game. He's a very good fit for Liam Coen's offense with his ability to move around pre-snap and operate in space.
However, the Jaguars also planned for this moment, drafting Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen last April.
The Jaguars also don't have an abundance of salary cap space at the moment, so those resources could be utilized on more pressing needs than running back -- like defensive tackle or cornerback.
We recently explored what Etienne's next contract could look like.
Potential landing spots for Jaguars' free agent RB Travis Etienne
ESPN: Chiefs
They said it: "Etienne has the play speed to upgrade a Chiefs run game that ranked 25th last season (106.6 yards per game). And with his dual-threat ability as a pass catcher, Etienne would be schemed on screens and backfield releases in coach Andy Reid's system. This is a move to add more juice and big-play ability to the Kansas City offense." - Matt Bowen
Pro Football Network:Texans
They said it: "With uncertainty surrounding Joe Mixon, adding a dynamic playmaker like Etienne would instantly elevate the offense. Pairing him with Woody Marks would give Houston a versatile backfield capable of attacking defenses in multiple ways. More importantly, it would provide quarterback C.J. Stroud with a reliable outlet as he works to regain confidence and rhythm." - PFN
FOX Sports: Saints
They said it: "Keeping him will mean a nice raise — let's say $8 million a year — but the Jaguars were pleased with fourth-round rookie Bhayshul Tuten in limited use this past season. Using the franchise tag at $14.5 million seems too expensive at a position where there isn't much guaranteed money beyond the first year on many contracts." - Greg Auman
Pro Football Focus: Cardinals
They said it: "New head coach Mike LaFleur brings with him the experience of working under Sean McVay, and the diverse offensive philosophy that comes with it. Last season, the Rams ran the eighth-most outside runs in the NFL during the regular season, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. Etienne would flourish in a scheme that systematically attacks the outside, evidenced by his 90.5 PFF rushing grade on outside runs since entering the league." - Mason Cameron

Canada men's hockey to play for Olympics gold, beats Finland in semifinal
MILAN — The Canadians had their eyes on the gold medal game when the 2026 Winter Olympics began, and getting there took on extra meaning with their captain on the sidelines.
For a second consecutive game, they had to rally, doing so in thrilling fashion Friday, Feb. 20, overcoming a two-goal deficit to Finland in the men's tournament to win 3-2, netting the winner with 36.2 seconds left in regulation at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena. Sidney Crosby was unavailable because of an injury to his right leg suffered during the quaterfinal, and by winning, the Canadians bought him an extra day off before Sunday's finale.
"You want to win for Sid," Canadian defenseman Cale Makar said. "You don't want that to be his last game here in Milan and for us. You definitely play for a guy like that and you play for all the Canadians out there that watch us every single day. We just want to make them proud. But for a guy like Sid, our captain, we go out there and try and do everything we can for him."
Canada is seeking its first Olympic gold since 2014, and will take on the winner of the USA vs. Slovakia semifinal later Friday.
For the Finns, the final score tore at their hearts. They scored first, they scored second, they basically had three skaters playing back on the defense to keep Canada out. But sitting back so much after the first period — the Finns had four shots on net from the start of the second period until the middle of the third period, and were outshot 31-9 the last 40 minutes — was not a sound strategy against a team as talented as Canada.
"We played the best team in the world," said Erik Haula, who scored a shorthanded goal early in the second period. "Took it to them. We kept talking about how we can just defend. They're a good team. That's the truth. We talked about it between the second and third. We've got to push for that next one."
Instead, it was Canada doing what Canada does: Win. The Canadians pressed more and more, harder and harder, and Shea Theodore tied the game at 10:34 of the third period on a long-range slap shot off while Brad Marchand created havoc around Juuse Saros' crease.
Canada avoided going to overtime for a second straight game thanks to a fantastic shift from Nathan MacKinnon. He drew a high-sticking call on Nikko Mikkola, then converted a one-timer from the left side set up by Connor McDavid to put Canada up within half a minute of winning. Desperate, Finnish coach Antti Pennanen challenged Macklin Celebrini was offside, to no avail.
McDavid, wearing the "C" in lieu of Crosby (in international hockey, there has to be a player serving as captain), had two assists, setting a record with 13 points in Olympics with NHL participation.
"Just keeping the seat warm for Sid," McDavid said. "Hopefully we can see him here on Sunday. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for him to miss tonight. I’m sure it was a long game to watch. I know that for a fact. It means a lot to represent our country here as a team int he sport we love. That’s what it’s all about."

PREVIEW: Manchester City seek to go within two points of Arsenal with win over Newcastle
Manchester City have the chance to close the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal to just two points if they beat Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium.
With the Gunners travelling to north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday and still having to face a trip to the Etihad in April, much hinges on how Pep Guardiola’s side perform.
The Magpies poor record away at City, having failed to win at all of their past 20 attempts, will only give the 10-time champions the confidence required to get over the line.
As for the hosts, City have lost just two of their last 22 matches in all competitions, including two wins over Newcastle in both legs of their Carabo Cup semi-final tie.
During Guardiola’s reign, City have often found form towards the business end of seasons past and have been rewarded with silverware as as a result – winning six of the last eight top flight titles.
While this iteration is noticeably different in terms of personnel and tactically, they still possess a number of serial winners in their ranks: Bernardo Silva, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Ruben Dias to name just a few.
In the aforementioned Carabao Cup clash, City were by far the dominant side and deservedly won 2-0 at St. James’ Park in the first leg, followed by a 3-1 victory at home.
These previous triumphs will surely give them confidence they can once again beat the Magpies.
With their squad having enjoyed a full week of training without a midweek game, they will be rested for this fixture and could afford to rotate their side in their FA Cup fourth round outing against Salford City, where they met expectations in coasting to a 2-0 win.
This, combined with Newcaste’s form away from home leaving much to be desired, may well point to a relatively easy afternoon for Manchester City.
However, since their loss to Brentford, Newcastle have won three away games on the bounce and look to be rejuvenated on the road.
This weekend marks a test of how far they’ve come on their travels, and while a loss will be far from disastrous a win could embolden Newcastle to make a late push for European football.
However, they will be dealing with the impact of their midweek 5,061-mile trip to Azerbaijan, the longest journey ever undertaken by an English side in the Champions League.
Eddie Howe will also have to deal with the impact of club captain Bruno Guimaraes’ continued absence, as his side have never won a Premier League game that he has missed since his arrival.
But with the improved form of Jacob Ramsey, there is hope that the effect of the Brazilian’s injury may be minimal.
The clash will kick-off at 20:00 (GMT) this Sunday, with live coverage available on TNT Sports 1.
