Paul Coffey Returns to Oilers as Assistant Coach

The Edmonton Oilers announced Wednesday that legendary defenseman Paul Coffey is returning to their coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch expressed confidence that Coffey's return would benefit the team as they approach the playoffs. Coffey previously served as an assistant coach from 2023 to 2025 and is expected to rejoin the team on Friday.

“I’m excited to return and work alongside Kris and the entire staff,” Coffey said in a statement. During his previous stint as an assistant, the Oilers ranked fifth in the league in goals allowed per game (2.78).
