Russell urged to find flow state for F1 title

Former Mercedes race engineer Rob Smedley has urged George Russell to rediscover his 'flow state' as the driver faces mounting pressure in the 2026 F1 championship chase.

During an episode of the High Performance Racing podcast, Smedley suggested Russell is 'overthinking' his title challenge, which has seen him fall further behind teammate Kimi Antonelli in the points standings.

The former Ferrari engineer believes Russell needs to return to the mental state that brought him success earlier in his career, with Smedley making the comments alongside former Alpine team principal Otmar Szafnauer and broadcaster Jake Humphrey. palladian.co.za
