Chicago Bears' safety, Jonathan Owens, says he was the victim of a robbery attempt at the 2026 Winter Olympics

Owens, 30, has been in Milan for the Milano Cortina Games with his wife, Simone Biles, 28.

On Valentine's Day, the couple was seen cheering wildly for the Americans, while rocking Team USA gear and waving red, white, and blue flags during the men's 500m race.

That excitement didn't last long, though.

The next day, Owens revealed that the attempted robbery went down.

“Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan, force of habit i had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately,” Owens wrote via X on Sunday, Feb. 15. "But still crazy."

Fans were quick to comment on the alleged incident, with many finding it hilarious that someone would try to rob an NFL player.

"He just don’t know that he wasn’t getting away even if he got it," one person joked.

"Good thing for him he didn't get it cause Safeties hit hard lol he would've been folded," a second said.

A third follower asked the Bears star if the alleged robber was quick on his feet when he tried to snatch the bag, to which Owens replied, “Not fast at all bro, his arms were moving faster than his legs lol."

"Should’ve seen his face once he realized i turned around and he couldn’t grab it," he added.

Another fan told the NFL safety he should've just let him take the bag - just so he could tackle him.

"Honestly i know right, but it was no way he could get it off my hand, I’ve seen too many TikTok’s of that happening so i was prepared," Owens replied.

Simone Biles gave fans a peek of their shopping trip before the incident

Before Owens vented about the incident, his wife, Biles, gushed over his sweet Valentine's Day surprise.

"Always spoiling me," Biles wrote via her Instagram Stories on Sunday, Feb. 15.

The 11-time Olympic medalist included a selfie with her NFL husband at the Bottega Veneta Boutique in Italy.

“I never knew Bottega did this, might be a special Milan thing?!” Biles wrote in a separate slide, along with a photo of a white handbag monogrammed with her initials "SBO."

“But how f----- cute?” Biles added.
