Spring training is the time for optimism for all people involved. It still feels like the Phillies have a chance to win a World Series since everyone is (mostly) healthy and showing up in the best shape of their lives. Everyone still has the sense that things are alright and that negativity about either the season or the coming labor fight can be staved off for another day.
With that positivity fresh in our minds, let’s look at the rosters the Phillies have. Thinking about either major league or minor league players, it doesn’t really matter, which player looks poised to take a step forward in 2026? There are a ton of minor league candidates to consider, but in the majors, I’m going with Bryce Harper. The comments about his level of elite clearly bothered him this offseason, which makes me believe he’s going to have a chip on his shoulder about that perceived level of play all year long.
