Team Brad Jacobs is on pace to earn a semifinal spot in Olympic men’s curling.
The Canadian rink improved to 5-1 in the 10-team round-robin with an 8-2 win over the winless Team Lukas Klima of Czechia on Monday at Milano Cortina 2026.
Jacobs is second in the standings, trailing only 6-0 Switzerland. The Yannick Schwaller rink handed Canada its lone loss of the event on Saturday.
Against Czechia, Jacobs notched three steals of one in the first half of the game to grab a commanding 4-1 lead at the break.
Canada put Tyler Tardi into the game at lead in place of Ben Hebert in the seventh end to give the alternate some Olympic experience. The Czechs shook hands after the eighth end.
The Canadian men return to action Tuesday (1:05 p.m. ET / 10:05 a.m. PT, CBC Gem, Sportsnet+) against reigning world champion Team Bruce Mouat of Great Britain.
Canada is looking for its first Olympic men’s curling gold medal since Jacobs skipped another team to the title in 2014.
