First-year head coach Bobby Shuttleworth made a splash in recruiting on Thursday, with the signing of the second Icelandic player in program history.
Reykjavik, Iceland, native Brynja Knudsen signed with the Aggies and will compete for the Maroon and White in 2026. Knudsen's addition strengthens Texas A&M's midfield tremendously, as she brings much experience from her time competing in Iceland's most competitive soccer league.
The rising Icelandic star has all the tools necessary to become a massive contributor on the pitch for the new-look Aggies this season.

Knudsen registered 12 caps for Iceland's youth national squads, demonstrating her outstanding athleticism and intelligence. The new Aggie midfielder played five matches with the Iceland U17 squad in 2024, as part of the Euro U17 qualifying. She followed those performances by competing for the U19 club in 2025, with three matches scheduled for April as part of the European Championship Qualifying Round 2.
The Iceland native's signing adds an electric spark for Shuttleworth's first team in Bryan-College Station.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Brynja to College Station for this upcoming fall," Shuttleworth said. "She has immense potential and we believe she will add to our team on and off the field. Competing in the top division in Iceland has given her high-level experience and her time with the Iceland Youth National Team has helped shape her competitive mentality and understanding of the game. She possesses strong technical ability and reads the game well. We look forward to helping her continue to grow and develop in Aggieland."
Knudsen joins former Aggie Ásdís Halldórsdóttir as the only Icelandic players to represent the Maroon and White. She will join the Texas A&M squad after a down season for the program last year.
