Sources: Barcelona target €6m-rated Dutch gem as Frenkie de Jong successor

According to an update shared by Fichajes, it has come to light that Barcelona are already planning for the future in midfield.

The name now under serious consideration is Stije Resink, the 22-year-old talent currently playing for FC Groningen.

The outlet assures that there is a belief within Barcelona that Resink shares several traits with Frenkie de Jong.

His ability to carry the ball forward, break defensive lines and remain calm under pressure are seen as key qualities.

Barcelona value midfielders who can solve problems in possession, and Resink reportedly fits that profile.

His numbers this season support the interest. Across 24 appearances for Groningen, he has scored four goals and added five assists.

Those figures show not only consistency but also attacking contributions from deeper areas.

The financial aspect

From a financial perspective, the potential operation looks attractive, as the reported release clause or expected transfer fee stands at around €6 million.

In the current market, Barcelona consider that figure manageable and aligned with their transfer policy, which prioritises young players with room to grow.

Within the sporting department, the move is viewed as a calculated opportunity.

Securing a 22-year-old with top-flight experience and international potential for €6 million is considered low risk compared to many other options on the market.

However, timing could be decisive, as Groningen are aware that interest is increasing and understand that holding onto Resink may become difficult if formal proposals arrive from Spain.

The €6 million mark appears to be the starting point for any serious negotiation.

Complicating matters further, Atletico Madrid are also tracking the midfielder closely.

If both clubs step forward with concrete offers, Barcelona may need to accelerate discussions to avoid a bidding scenario that could push the fee above the current valuation.
