Nicolo Barella showed signs of improvement in Inter Milan’s 2-0 victory over Genoa, but Italian media were united in the view that the Italy midfielder still lacks the sharpness and precision that defined him at his peak.
Four of the five major outlets handed Barella a 6, as noted by L’Interista, reflecting a performance that was better than recent outings without being fully convincing.
Gazzetta dello Sport acknowledged the step forward, describing Barella as “more lively and convincing than in recent displays, especially in the first half.”
However, they added that “he still lacks precision in the decisive moments.”

The Corriere dello Sport echoed the theme, noting a performance of intensity and dynamism but once again “seasoned with a touch too much frenzy at key moments.”
Only Tuttosport were more critical, handing Barella a 5.5, continuing a run of below-par scores for a player who has divided opinion among Inter supporters this season.
