Did LSU baseball fall in latest polls after suffering loss to McNeese?

BATON ROUGE – Somehow going 3-1 this week has not been a performance that has inspired a lot of enthusiasm for LSU baseball.

The Tigers (11-1) dropped their first contest of the young 2026 college baseball season, losing 7-6 to McNeese State in a midweek game at Alex Box Stadium this past Tuesday. Was that enough to drop LSU in this week's USA TODAY College Baseball Coaches Poll this week?

With UCLA sweeping three SEC teams over the weekend at a neutral site at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, LSU's losing to McNeese was cause for it to fall one spot to No. 2 in this week's coaches' rankings.

LSU is set to play five games over the next week starting with Northeastern at Alex Box Stadium Monday night (6:30 p.m. CT, SEC Network+), before traveling to face Louisiana Wednesday night then returning home for a three-game set with Sacramento State Friday through Sunday.
