Giants releasing Bobby Okereke

Giants head coach John Harbaugh is reshaping the roster this offseason and LB Bobby Okereke is a casualty of the new regime.

SNY's Connor Hughes confirms that Okereke has been informed by the Giants that he will be released once the season officially begins on March 11.

The move will save the Giants $9 million in cap space.

Okereke was on the final year of a four-year, $40 million deal he signed when he joined the Giants ahead of the 2023-24 season after spending his first four years with the Indianapolis Colts. The 30-year-old had a fantastic first season with the Giants, compiling 2.5 sacks, 10 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and 11 tackles for loss, all of which were career highs. Overall, he made 149 combined tackles (92 solo).

The 2024-25 season saw Okereke appear in just 12 games due to a herniated disc and his numbers reflected that. He made 93 tackles (47 solo) to go along with two sacks.

This past season, Okereke stayed healthy, making 17 starts, and had a good bounce-back season but did not make as big an impact as his first year with Big Blue. He had one sack and made 143 tackles (78 solo) to go along with two interceptions and two tackles for loss.
