Cardinals to Release QB Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray will be released by the Arizona Cardinals when the new league year begins on March 11, the quarterback confirmed in a social media post.

The Cardinals had grown frustrated with Murray, who was owed $36.8 million in guaranteed money. Murray played in just five games last season before suffering a foot injury, with backup Jacoby Brissett performing well in his absence. The team finished with a 3-14 record and fired coach Jonathan Gannon. Murray arrived in Arizona with high expectations after winning the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma in 2019, delivering highlights like the 'Hail Murray' in 2020, but the team couldn't overcome a 77-year championship drought.
