England Given Safety Assurances for Turkey Match

England manager Sarina Wiegman confirms the team has received safety reassurances for their Women's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine in Turkey, as concerns grow over regional tensions.

England are scheduled to play Ukraine in Antalya at 17:00 GMT on Tuesday because Ukraine are unable to host the match due to the war with Russia. The match comes amid heightened security concerns following weekend attacks in the Middle East.

Wiegman stated: "We did have reassurances. We are in close contact with the government and the people here that are responsible." She added that while they're monitoring the situation, they currently have no signals of danger. The manager expressed sadness that Ukraine can't play at home due to conflict, saying: "The reason we're here is not nice. You want Ukraine to be able to play in their home country."
