Flamengo sacks former Chelsea defender Luis after 8-0 win

Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis was dismissed as Flamengo manager just hours after the club's 8‑0 win, ending a trophy‑rich tenure.

Luis, 40, guided Flamengo to seven titles in 100 matches, including the 2025 Copa Libertadores, but the club announced his dismissal at 00:59 local time after an 8‑0 second‑leg win over Madureira.

The club also released assistant Ivan Palanco and physical trainer Diogo Linhares, and will face Fluminense in the Campeonato Carioca final on Sunday.
