Hyundai Realistic but Optimistic About Bridging WRC Pace Gap

Hyundai faces a significant pace gap to Toyota in the 2026 World Rally Championship but remains optimistic about future improvements.

The Korean manufacturer endured heavy defeats in the opening rounds of the 2026 World Rally Championship as Toyota secured consecutive 1-2-3-4 results. Hyundai drivers struggled with traction and grip issues, resorting to trying over 30 different set-ups across its three crews.

Thierry Neuville salvaged some pride by winning the Power Stage, while Adrien Fourmaux finished fifth. Team principal Andrea Adamo emphasized a realistic outlook, stating the squad is working hard to close the performance deficit against the dominant Toyota Gazoo Racing team.
