NFL Combine: QB2 Battle Heats Up Without Mendoza

The NFL combine continues with quarterback prospects competing for the QB2 position as Fernando Mendoza opts out of workouts.

While top prospect Fernando Mendoza won't be throwing at the NFL combine, choosing instead to wait for his April Pro Day, the battle for QB2 position heats up with Alabama's Ty Simpson, LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, Miami's Carson Beck, and Penn State's Drew Allar all expected to participate. Allar's participation is particularly notable as he broke his ankle in October and hasn't thrown in public since.

Wide receivers will also join the quarterbacks in workouts, where prospects will compete to separate themselves in what's considered a deep but not elite draft class for these positions.
