Scherzer's daughter letter 'cutest thing'

Scherzer's 8-year-old daughter Brooke wrote a heartfelt letter to the Blue Jays expressing her family's love for Toronto and her desire for her father to return. The letter, written while she was composing requests to Santa Claus, mentioned their family's favorite Toronto attractions and included the line 'I hope my dad is back on the team.'

'That's a bad negotiating tactic,' Scherzer joked about the letter, which his wife shared on Instagram after his deal was finalized. The three-time Cy Young Award winner wanted to return after the Blue Jays came close to winning the World Series last season, and he feels healthy after dealing with a thumb injury for much of 2023.
