Texas Grand Jury Clears Beverley in Assault Case

Former NBA player Patrick Beverley will not face charges after a Texas grand jury declined to indict him in an assault case involving his sister.

The grand jury in Fort Bend County, southwest of Houston, decided not to indict Beverley on one count of assault of a family member. The former NBA guard had been arrested in November after his sister alleged he grabbed her by the neck, slammed her against a wall and punched her in the face. Beverley claimed he found his sister, a minor, alone with an 18-year-old man. Beverley, who played 12 NBA seasons, last with the Milwaukee Bucks, was free on a $40,000 bond.
