Zundell Makes WV History with Sub-Four Mile

Drew Zundell became only the third runner from West Virginia to record a sub-four minute mile, crossing the finish line in 3:59.04 at a Boston meet.

Syracuse sophomore Drew Zundell, a former University High School state champion, made history over the weekend by becoming just the third runner from West Virginia to break the four-minute barrier in a competitive mile. His 3:59.04 performance came in Boston with former Syracuse coach Chris Fox in attendance, who had previously achieved the same feat.

The achievement marked a full-circle moment for Zundell, who had previously run 4:03 earlier in the season at Cornell. With two more seasons remaining at Syracuse, Zundell says his time with the program has already helped him develop professionally in all aspects of his life.
