Fitzgerald Proposes College Football Calendar Changes

Michigan State football head coach Pat Fitzgerald has outlined his vision for reforming the college football calendar, suggesting significant changes including moving the season start and national title game.

During a recent podcast with ESPN analyst David Pollack, Fitzgerald proposed several key adjustments to the current calendar. His recommendations include advancing the start of the season, moving the national championship game to January 1st, eliminating conference championship games, and scheduling bowl games one week after the regular season concludes.

Additionally, Fitzgerald advocated for implementing home playoff games similar to the NFL, FCS, and D2 models. These suggestions come as part of ongoing discussions about optimizing the college football calendar to better serve players and fans alike.
