Wolverhampton, who sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, produced a remarkable performance against third-placed Aston Villa on Friday night. The first goal arrived 15 minutes into the second half when Adam Armstrong's excellent move and pass found João Gomes, who struck the ball home from 16 meters via the crossbar.
Despite Aston Villa having a shot cleared off the line in injury time, Wolverhampton sealed the victory with a second goal from Gomes. Norwegian player David Møller Wolfe remained on the bench throughout the match.
