Rare golf double-header: Max Homa, Tom Kim playing Cognizant, TGL

PALM BEACH GARDENS — Max Homa and Tom Kim each are pulling a rare professional golf double-header.

Both went from the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches on March 1 to TGL, which is held 5 miles from PGA National at the SoFi Center, to play for Jupiter Links against Boston Common.

"It's going to be a bit much," Homa said following his final round at Cognizant, which ended around 3:30 p.m. "It's very late. I don't know, I'm going to pack up all my stuff from here. Got to be over there … probably got to shower, change, run over there around 6-something, and then hopefully we win. We need to win one of the next two at least (to make the playoffs), so hopefully we have a good night."

Homa was asked when was the last time he played two different competitive events in the same day.

"That's a good question," he said. "I doubt I have. I'm sure when I was young I might have got close, but I can't think of it off the top of my head."

Homa, who lives in Scottsdale, Ariz., is not eligible to play the next two weeks at the Arnold Palmer Invitational or The Players.

Homa closed with a 4-under 67 at Cognizant for a tournament total 4-under 275. Kim shot a 69 in the final round and was 1-under 283 for the tournament.
